Summer is coming and so are the blockbusters. As with almost every year for the last 20 years or so, it's the big action movies and their many sequels that promise to make the biggest impact. Nowadays it seems to be the norm to spend an excess of US$120 million for a 100-minute movie. Gone are the days of US$7 million sleeper hits, made by an indie directed with money financed by friends.
I'm not being pessimistic, i love all kind of movies. I'm looking forward to Pirates of the Caribbean, that promises to be a good one. I do hope it's the last one, maybe 3 movies is the furthest it can go before starting to look old.
Chow Yuen Fatt is acting in this one. He goes by the name Yun-Fat Chow these days, he use to act in lots of Hong Kong TV serials. Most of them are classics now. He then moved to movies in the 80's and 90's, before hitting it big in the US with The Replacement Killers, i think.
And then there is ... Captain Jack Sparrow!!
