I H8 Roaches

Man, I hate roaches. My wife hates them even more, but i'm the one that has to kill them each time one of them strolls onto the toilet or kitchen floor.

I'm this rather new Facebook game called Frontierville, which is a bit like the more established Farmville but set in a Wild West frontier setting. I Love Mahjong

Man, i love mahjong. My family used to play a lot of it when i was younger, and my in-laws still play it on a weekly basis. I don't get to play all that often, seeing that it's not easy to find three other likeminded people with time on their schedule, so i usually play the computer version.

It's not the same, but it helps that i can still play. The version i have on my pc is the hong kong style, which is different in the method of counting and scoring. But no matter, the basics are the same. Game on.

Goldfinger

Remember that old James Bond movie starring the efferverscent Roger Moore? I definitely remember it. It was a little camp by today's action movie standards, but it was still enjoyable fun all around.

The scene that struck me the most (other than the girl covered in gold paint) was the scene in Goldfinger's vault, it was filled with gold bars and coins, portraying how rich he was. But that's how it is, isn't it? The ultimate sign of affluency is gold, whether it is in bullion or it is just a little bit on your ring finger.

Falling Down

Took me more than 90 minutes to get to work today. The trip usually takes less than an hour, but with the early morning rain and the mini-floods, the city has ground to a standstill. City Hall always asserts that ‘every city has this problem’ but I think it isn’t a good excuse. If there is no room for improvement and everything is running efficiently, I can understand that. But sometimes these floods are due to poor maintenance and rubbish choking the rivers - stuff that can be mitigated easily.

So don’t sit back and do nothing while giving us excuses.

I think the residents our good city along with those that stay in the surrounding suburbs have more or less become numb to these problems, and simply putting up with it and where possible working around the problems.

But every so often, when push comes to shove, things will come to a head. Reminds me of Michael Douglas in 'Falling Down'.
